OVERVIEW
The ACCT80C program is used to convert expense transactions from the AMS-20 PC data base
created by Data-Pac's Account 80C program to be compatible with the TABS III Import Data
from Data Capture Devices program.
The ACCT80C program must reside in the same directory as the TABS III programs in order to
work properly.
The TABS III Client/Matter number must be entered without a separator between the Client
and Matter number when entered on the Shipping/Postage machine (example: TABS III
Client/Matter number 87026.001 should be entered as 87026001).
INSTALLATION
The Account 80C interface program (ACCT80C.EXE) must be transferred to the directory on
your hard disk where the TABS III program files reside (otherwise you will get a
"FILE NOT FOUND" error message). This is done by using the INSTALL program.
To install the ACCT80C Interface program on your hard disk:
1) Insert the ACCT80C Interface program master disk into floppy disk drive "A"
and enter the following commands:
A: (then depress the
Enter key)
INSTALL
2) Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software onto your hard disk. The
Install program will locate your TABS III software on your hard disk so that the interface
program can be transferred to the same directory as TABS III. After the installation
process, the message "Installation Complete" will be displayed.
EXECUTING THE ACCOUNT 80C CONVERSION PROGRAM
Use the following procedure for conversion:
1) Create a data file from your Account 80C program. Transfer the data file to the
directory where your TABS III data resides. The data file created by the Account 80C
program includes the month and day in the file name, example: OC21.80C. You may want to
copy the data file to a common name to be used the ACCT80C program, example: ACCT80C.DTA.
This will eliminate having to delete the ACCT80C.PRM file every time you run the ACCT80C
program.
2) Change to the drive and directory where the ACCT80C program file resides. For example,
if your ACCT80C program file resides on drive C in a subdirectory called STI, from the C:
prompt, enter:
CD \STI
Invoke the conversion program by entering: ACCT80C
3) The first time you run the ACCT80C program, you will be asked to enter the TABS III
transaction code number that you use for shipping/postage cost transactions. You will also
be asked to specify the file name of the Account 80C cost data file. Once you specify the
transaction code number and filename, the ACCT80C conversion program will use those same
values each time you run the ACCT80C conversion program.
4) Next, you will be asked "Is it OK to continue (Y/N)?". If you enter
"N", the program will be aborted. If you enter "Y", the program will
look for the data file containing the Account 80C data. If the data file is found to
contain data, the program will display the message "Converting transactions"
followed by a counter as each transaction is read from the file. The files T3EXPKEY.REM,
T3EXP.REM and T3EDESC1.REM will be created which can be merged with the main TABS III data
files. You must then startup TABS III and run the Import Data from Data Capture Devices
program.
NOTE: If you are not using a demo version of the program, the data file
will automatically be deleted when the conversion is complete to avoid double-posting of
the data.
NOTE: You may change the cost transaction code or data file name used by
the Account 80C conversion program by deleting the file ACCT80C.PRM which is created in
your TABS III program directory during Step 3 of the execution instructions. This will
enable you to go through the setup procedure described in Step 3 of the execution
instructions as a first time user of the program.
