Note: CompuLaw Version 9 Rules Engines shipped after 12-10-2008 are compatible with 64-bit Operating Systems.
Clicking the Alliance Partners menu option from the CompuLaw CD-ROM results in the screen shown below.

Court Rule Date Generation Engine Installation InstructionsPlease read, sign and mail (or fax) the enclosed "Court Rules Limited Warranty and License Agreement" to CompuLaw so that we can provide you with Access Codes and the Security Codes that are required during the installation process. Call CompuLaw's Technical Support Department at 1-800-444-0215, or (310) 553-7661, if you need assistance during this installation. Installing the CompuLaw Rules EngineFollow the step by step instructions below to install the CompuLaw Rules Engine and its support files for use with the PracticeMaster application. Step 1 - Install the PracticeMaster Program Your PracticeMaster application must be installed before you can install the CompuLaw Rules Engine. If not already installed, install the PracticeMaster software following the instructions in the product documentation. Step 2 - Install the CompuLaw Rules Engine Place the CompuLaw Installation CD into your CD drive. If the "Auto Play" feature in Windows is set then the installation menu will appear automatically. If the "Auto Play" feature is disabled, simply run the Setup program located on the installation CD. From the installation menu, select the PracticeMaster option under Alliance Partners. Follow the installation instructions presented on your screen. The password is PM93882737613398. You will be asked to specify the location of the PracticeMaster software. A "COMPULAW" folder will be created under the PracticeMaster program directory. Towards the end of the installation process, you will be asked to create icons for the CompuLaw Rules Engine. Answer "Yes" to this prompt and select the appropriate PracticeMaster program group for the new program icons. Step 3 - Enter your Serial Number When the installation is complete, you will be asked to enter your product serial number. Your serial number is located on the last page of your "CompuLaw Court Rule Limited Warranty and License Agreement". Simply enter this number into the field provided and click the OK button. For example, if your serial number is 0180000PM then you would enter the serial number in the fields provided like this:
Note, the serial number for the evaluation version of the engine is 0389999PM. Enter your Security CodesThe Security Codes for the product are printed on the "Product Security Code Sheet" that is mailed or faxed to you upon receipt by CompuLaw of your "Court Rule License Agreement". Select the "CRD Security Code" program from the program group into which the CompuLaw Rules Engine icons have been installed. The Security Code Entry form is now displayed. Enter your firm name and security codes into the fields provided on this form and click the Save button to store the information. Note, you must enter your firm name exactly as it appears on the Security Code printout in order for your security codes to be accepted. Loading CompuLaw Court RulesFollow these instructions to load the CompuLaw Court Rules that you have purchased:
Entering Access CodesIf you have not read, signed and returned your Court Rules License Agreement to CompuLaw, please do so now so that we can issue your Access Codes as quickly as possible. Access Codes are not required for the Sample Rules. In this last step, you will enter the Access Codes for the Rule Sets you have purchased. Your Access Codes are located on the Access Code printout that is sent to you by CompuLaw upon receipt of your executed Court Rules License Agreement. You must enter the Access Code for each of the Rule Sets listed on this printout to be able to schedule dates using those Rule Sets. From the CompuLaw Rules Engine Maintenance Program main screen, select the "System Rule Sets" option located on the "View" menu. This displays a list of all your CompuLaw Rule Sets. To enter the Access Code for a Rule Set, simply highlight the Rule Set in the list, click the right mouse button and select the "Access Code" option from the menu. This displays the Access Codes Entry form. Enter the Access Code from your Access Code printout into the field provided and press the [F10] key to store it. Do this for each Rule Set listed on your Access Code printout. Network Workstation InstallationEach workstation that will be using the CompuLaw/PracticeMaster integration must run an installation program to install the required files and desktop shortcuts on the workstation. This installation program is named NCRDENG.EXE.
Note: Make sure each workstation uses a drive letter mapping to the PracticeMaster program directory that is consistent for all workstations. That's It!You may now generate CompuLaw dates using the PracticeMaster application. See the PracticeMaster documentation for instructions on generating CompuLaw dates using their product. |
Note: The Network Workstation Installation must be run for each workstation that needs to integrate with CompuLaw. This utility must be run with administrator privileges on the workstation.
