What’s New in GLS for Windows Version 9
STI System Configuration
- Added the ability to allow or disallow rights for all functions in a group with the click of a button.
- Whenever Firm Information is changed, a form is printed that can be faxed to STI with the changed information.
- Added a Fax Phone field for the firm.
General
- The Main Task Folder is now customizable.
- Added a toolbar button and Ctrl+T keystroke to display Task Folders.
- Added Close All and Minimize All menu options to the Window menu to close or minimize all open windows with the exception of the Task Folders window.
- Lookup windows were changed so that the selected record is shown in the middle of the list thus showing records both before and after the selected record.
Printing & Preview Window
- Changed the printed output so that the Windows Generic or Standard printer drivers print dashes for underscores.
- Changed the print job order from Last In-First Out to First In-First Out.
- Added a Fit to Window option in the Zoom dialog box allowing the software to automatically select the appropriate font size based on the report width and the current preview window.
- Added a First and Last button to the searching capabilities in the Preview window.
- Increased the minimum and maximum allowable Printer Offset Adjustment from -0.250 and 0.250 inches to -9.999 and 99.999 inches.
Chart of Accounts
- If a department is changed, the user will be given the opportunity to have all existing journal entries automatically changed to reflect the new department. Previously, this had to be done manually if the department was changed.
Journal Entries
- The Journal Entry Lookup window was changed so that journal entries are displayed in reverse order (i.e., the most recent entries are shown at the top).
General Ledger Report
- Added an option to start each account on a new page.
Income Statement
- The month-to-date column heading now uses a three-character abbreviation for the month instead of MTD.
Check Reconciliation
- After clicking the Finalize button, you will be prompted to print a Check Reconciliation Report.
- Added a Print button to the Check Reconciliation window that allows a Check Reconciliation Report to be printed.
- The GLS Account # and the Include Entries/Exclude Entries option specified at the beginning of a reconciliation are now saved and will be used as the defaults the next time a reconciliation is run.
Post ASCII Data
- Added a Journal Entry Type option. If this option is set to Detail, GLS will look for Check # and Reference fields at the end of each journal entry record in the ASCII file. If this option is set to Summary, GLS will not expect a Check # or Reference field in the ASCII file—it will expect the same format that was used in Version 8.
- Dates in the GLSASCII.DTA file can now use an MM/DD/YYYY format as well as an MM/DD/YY format.
Pensoft/PC-Payroll Integration
- GLS now integrates with the Pensoft and PC-Payroll software packages from Peninsula Software. The new Post Pensoft/PC-Payroll Data program in GLS allows you to post payroll journal entries created by the Pensoft or PC-Payroll modules to STI’s General Ledger System. Peninsula Software of Virginia can be contacted at 800-432-5532 or on the Internet at www.pensoft.com.
Data File Integrity Check
- Added the beginning and ending date and time on the DFIC Log and Error List.
- GLS now confirms that the GLS Data Paths are valid for all GLS clients each time the integrity check is run. If an invalid path is encountered, an error 25 will be reported.
Select Different Client
- Added the ability to select a default GLS client using the Select Different Client window. The default client can be specified for each workstation and is stored in the workstation’s STI.INI file.
About GLS
- Additional information is now shown in the About GLS window including the firm name, whether the user has manager rights, the current GLS client and the beginning fiscal month. Additional information about the computer is also shown including the available physical memory, amount of free disk space, type of processor, screen resolution and printer driver information. This information can now be printed if desired.
