What’s New in TAS for Windows Version 9
STI System Configuration
- Added the ability to allow or disallow rights for all functions in a group
with the click of a button.
- Whenever Firm Information is changed, a form is printed that can be faxed
to STI with the changed information.
- Added a Fax Phone field for the firm.
General
- The Main Task Folder is now customizable.
- Added a toolbar button and Ctrl+T keystroke to display Task Folders.
- The firm’s name is now shown on the title bar of the Task Folders
window.
- Added Close All and Minimize All menu options to the Window
menu to close or minimize all open windows with the exception of the Task
Folders window.
- Lookup windows were changed so that the selected record is shown in the
middle of the list if the list is longer than the lookup window thus showing
records both before and after the selected record.
Printing & Preview Window
- Each workstation now has a default report printer and a default TAS check
printer.
- Changed the printed output so that the Windows Generic or Standard printer
drivers print dashes for underscores.
- Changed the print job order from Last In-First Out to First
In-First Out.
- Added a Fit to Window option in the Zoom dialog box allowing the
software to automatically select the appropriate font size based on the
report width and the current preview window.
- Added a First and Last button to the searching capabilities
in the Preview window making it easy to specify where the search should
begin.
- Increased the minimum and maximum allowable Printer Offset Adjustment from
-0.250 and 0.250 inches to -9.999 and 99.999 inches.
Customization
- Added an option to prevent editing of trust account balances.
- Added an option to prevent editing of bank account balances.
- The TAS Account Number Format has been replaced by the Matter Length
field.
- The TABS III Data Path has been eliminated. All TABS III data files (with
the exception of the archive files) must reside in the program directory.
The conversion program moves data files from other directories as required.
- The GLS Path has been replaced by a GLS client number field. After
specifying a client number, TAS looks at the GLS data files and reads the
appropriate data path for the specified client.
Trust Transaction Entry
- A warning now appears when the trust balance goes below the desired
minimum.
- When saving an EFT or check, the program forces you to go through the TABS
III and GLS screens rather than just reporting the message, "You haven’t
reviewed TABS III or GLS."
- When a check number is entered out of sequence in the Check # field, the
error message now more accurately reads, "Check number is out of
sequence," instead of "Check number has already been used."
- The Trust Transaction Lookup window, accessed at the Reference field, now
displays the transactions in reverse entry order.
Trust Accounts Tab (common folder tab used by reports, checks and utility
programs)
- Increased the number of trust account ranges allowed via the Multiple
button from 10 to 50.
- The ending trust account number will now always default to the beginning
trust account number. Previously, the ending trust account number would do
so only if the Tab key was used. If the Enter key was used (or you clicked
the OK button or changed tabs without first moving focus from the
beginning trust account number field), the ending trust account number would
default to the highest client number.
Trust Account List
- Added an option to print the current trust account balance or the balance
as of a specified date.

and check number, and last EFT date.
Client Trust Ledger
- Added the ability to exclude zero balance trusts.
- Added an option to include only active trusts.

Print Checks
- If the beginning check number entered is out of sequence, the error
message now more accurately reads, "Check number is out of
sequence," instead of "Check number has already been used."

to print the trust account number.

finalizing the reconciliation.

Reconciliation Report.
1099 Report
- Added the ability to print a detail or summary report. A summary report
includes basic trust information for the report including the trust account,
trust name, federal ID number, box number, the paid balance as of the
year-to-date and total payee information for the firm (i.e., the Version 8
report). The new detail option includes detailed check information for each
disbursement.

required by the IRS for gross proceeds paid to an attorney in connection
with legal services.
