What’s New List for Version
12.2
of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Software
HotDocs Document Assembly Enhancements
- Integration with the most current versions of HotDocs® -
HotDocs 2005 SP2 and HotDocs 6.2 SP4.
- New HotDocs Plug-in lets you access HotDocs functionality
using the familiar HotDocs interface – including the ability to use
HotDocs libraries to organize and access document templates and clauses,
and the option to organize PracticeMaster document templates in a single
HotDocs library file.
- Previously, HotDocs library files were not used and
PracticeMaster integration functions were accessed from within
PracticeMaster.
- Added PracticeMaster menus in HotDocs 2005 and HotDocs 6
for Document Assembly, Cross Reference Editor, and Test Assembly.
- Ticklers now appear at the end of document assembly
instead of at the beginning when integrating with HotDocs 2005 and HotDocs
6.
- Improved how the Assembled Document Name is passed between
PracticeMaster and HotDocs, thereby eliminating the need to enter it
twice. The file name used when saving the document is now used to populate
the Assembled Document Name field in the Document Tickler. In some
situations, the Document Tickler must be shown at the beginning of
document assembly. In this case, the name specified for the Assembled
Document Name field in the tickler is passed to HotDocs, thus eliminating
the need to specify a file name because the document is saved
automatically.
- Added a new HotDocs Options window that lets you configure
whether you want to use the new HotDocs Plug-in interface or the Classic
HotDocs Version 5 interface. The HotDocs Options window also includes the
ability to configure whether zero values should be treated as empty and
provides a means of reinstalling the HotDocs Plug-in should it ever be
necessary.
- Retained integration with HotDocs Version 5 documents
using the classic HotDocs Version 5 interface. If you prefer, you can even
assemble document templates created by HotDocs 2005 and HotDocs 6 using
the Classic interface.
Outlook Security Message Eliminated
- Eliminated the Outlook Security Message from appearing
every time PracticeMaster accesses the Outlook address book by using a
more sophisticated technique of accessing the Outlook address book. The
message has been eliminated from appearing in the following situations:
- When starting the User Configuration program in System
Configuration when using Microsoft Exchange Server.
- When adding, changing, or deleting calendar entries when
using Microsoft Exchange Server.
- When adding, changing or deleting related party.
- When running the Outlook Synchronization program in
PracticeMaster.
Support Log Enhancements
- Redesigned the Support Log to provide a more comprehensive
audit trail of tasks performed.
- Combined the Support Logs for each product into a single
Support Log file.
- Increased the number of records recorded for each feature
so that there is no limit. Once the maximum file size of 5 Mb
(approximately 5,000 records) is reached, the oldest record in the file
will be overwritten each time a new record is added.
- Added the ability to specify users, features, and date
ranges when running a Support Log.
- Added the ability to resize the Support Log window.
- Added the ability for managers to access all Support Logs
for all Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software via System Configuration.
- Added Support Log tracking to System Configuration for the
following features: Reindex Files, Back Up Data Files, and Restore Data
Files.
- Added additional tracking information for various Tabs3
features.
- Improved report format.
Drill-Down Editing Capabilities in Accounts Payable and Trust Accounting
- Added drill-down editing capabilities to Accounts Payable
(APS) and Trust Accounting (TAS) reports when displayed in a Preview
window. When you mouse over a drill-down field on a report, it will be
highlighted in yellow. Clicking this field will open the appropriate data
entry window allowing you to edit the record. After saving the change, you
will be returned to the Preview window. Clicking the Refresh button
(or pressing F5) will update the report to reflect the change you just
made.

blank if more than one Client ID or Related Party is associated with an
e-mail address.

- Increased the maximum number of fields allowed in a file
from 220 to 300.
Extended Character Support
- All Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software now automatically
allows extended characters from the IBM extended character set (i.e.,
characters assigned to ASCII variables between decimal 128 and 255).
Therefore, the "Allow Ext Chars=Yes" parameter no longer needs
to be added to the STI.INI file.
